The 3 R’s of Transformation at Radiant Church
Radiate – Reshape – Represent
We believe the body of Christ at Radiant is called to Radiate the light of Christ in worship and fellowship as we celebrate outwardly what Christ has done inwardly. Together in a process of spiritual development called discipleship, each person is Reshaped becoming more like Jesus daily. The outflow of this growth is a desire to tell the Good News and to evangelize the world with the gospel of Christ by Representing their faith through acts of ministry service. To accomplish this calling as a body of Christ, we embrace The Great Commission and seek to radically live it out in this community and beyond through the power of the Holy Spirit, (thus a co-mission with God).
The Great Commission
“Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20 (ESV) Based on this commission from Jesus, Radiant Church will focus on three foundations for carrying out these commands of Jesus in 2017.
The Worship Experience Radiant will emphasize our Sunday service and the gathering of the Saints by offering an excellent, well planned and thematic experience that moves people to honor the Lord with worship songs, opportunities to serve, and the hearing the Word of God. (Matthew 28:16-18) Following the example of the first believers and the coming of The Holy Spirit in Acts 2:1-3 and Acts 2:42-47, they gathered together in worship, met the needs of everyone in the group, experienced the “signs and wonders” of God, and saw people added to the church every day. Radiant’s service will be an unashamed celebration of who we are in Christ and the eternal home we look forward to because of His finished work on the cross. We welcome everyone to our Sunday service because we believe when people experience the gathering of the Saints, the worship of our hearts, and the teaching of God’s Word, they will be inspired and experience life change along with us.
Becoming Like Jesus Christ Radiant will focus on growing those in our care to become more and more like Jesus. Jesus sent His followers to, “Make disciples of all nations.” We believe this is best accomplished in community through a Life-Group. Much time and resources will be committed to this discipleship process. Our leaders lead the way, and everyone is encouraged to join a life group to experience true biblical community. Our leaders will be well trained, and our groups will be the primary vehicle for growth personally and for missional outreach. (Matthew 28:19)
Missional Outreach Radiant will focus on missional outreach activities as seen when Jesus commanded the disciples to “Go.” (Matthew 28:19) Together we will reach our community and beyond through outreach-bridge events. Events designed to connect us with the community outside of our worship service such as, Movie Nights, The Jazz Cafe, a Fall Festival, 4th of July celebrations, and more. Events such as these give us an opportunity to meet people in the community, serve them, build relationships and expose them to the love of God through us. Our service of love extends to feeding and loving the needy such as the homeless, and the widows and orphans in our community. A further focus extends to planting new churches, providing wells in other parts of the world, and taking resources to areas hit by disaster. We believe in following Christ’s command to, “Go therefore into all the world. . .” (Matthew 28:20) 3
As we implement these three objectives for 2017, changes will be made to streamline our focus and reserve our energies to these initiatives. Our Revive, Bible studies at the church, and fellowship meals will move off our calendar to make room for our new focus. Our dream for each person is that the morning celebration service, life groups, and missional activities will be a priority and a part of each person’s 2017 commitment to Jesus through Radiant Church. May God bless us as we seek to follow His commission! Please pray for Radiant’s success in this new emphasis for The Kingdom of God and please be ready to get involved because we are better together my brothers and sisters! Thank you for prayerfully considering Radiant as your home away for home. Peace and love. Pastor Christian Chapman
