As we continue our series in the weekend worship services called, “Taming The Beast”, we’ve looked at denial in week one and now despair or depression in week two.
Depression is a broad topic as it includes both times of feeling down as well as diagnosed “clinical depression”.
This discussion focuses on those times when we’re emotional down. (Those experiencing long periods of depression should seek help beyond this group.) In the weekend message, we learned about Jonah’s despair as he despised an action that God took in saving people that were in Jonah’s opinion, not worth saving. There’s a lot of history around that situation but the idea of depression coming from God not doing what we want Him to do is all too often common.
QUESTION: Explain how you may have felt when God didn’t do something you thought He should do?
